| COMMEMORATION OF THE TREATY' SIGNATURE |
|
|
|
| The people from Tordesillas are proud of their History and, in particular, of the signature of the famous treaty. Every year, on the closest Saturday to 7 June it is commemorated this event by a dramatization at the Plaza Mayor. |

| DRAMATIZED TOURIST VISITS |
|
|
|
Under the name of "Noches de historia y leyendas de la villa" (Nights of history and legends of the town), a group of actors invite us to relive the most important historical events of Tordesillas, like the signature of the Treaty of Tordesillas and the stay of the Queen Joanna I of Castile (Joanna "the Mad"), who lived in this town for 46 years.
This is one of the most exciting Summer activities.

| OPEN COUNCIL OF DULZAINEROS |
|
|
|
In July the Open Council of "Dulzaineros" of the "Toro de la Vega" takes place, with the aim of encouraging and spreading the use and pieces of this folk musical instrument, whose presence is essential in all the traditional festivities of Castilla y León.
During one weekend snare drums, "dulzaineros", dancing and singing groups meet to interchange works, ideas and opinions. These events end with an emotional floral offering in memory of the Queen Joanna I of Castile.

| ARRIVAL OF QUEEN JOANNA I AND FUNERAL PROCESSION |

The inhabitants of Tordesillas have always considered Joanna as their queen. If you want to get off to a great start here, do not call her "Joanna the Mad", and call her "Joanna I of Castile". The sad fate of the queen, whose father and son did not allow her to reign, penetrated deep down in the people's hearts.
That's why they make a very emotional commemoration of each anniversary of the arrival of Joanna I and the funeral procession of her dead husband, Philip "the Handsome". She did not leave Tordesillas during almost 50 years, until her death in 1555.

| MIDDLE-AGE MARKET |

|
During the first weekend of October, the streets of Tordesillas come back to the Middle Age. There are banners and standards hanging from the balconies of the historic city center, musicians, jugglers, acrobats, fire-eaters, feudal lords, ladies, princes and princesses, monks, farmworkers, soldiers, witches, beggars, troubadours and a great many of characters make entertaining and colourful parades that go all over the historic city center. A great number of the Tordesillas' inhabitants wear middle-age costumes and many artisans from all over Spain take this opportunity to promote their products.
The Middle-Age Market of Tordesillas, it was held for the first time in 1994, date of the Fifth Centenary of the Treaty of Tordesillas' commemoration. Since 1995, it has been organized by the Association of Businessmen and Professionals, and year after year it has increased the number of people visiting this market. Besides, it has become a historic tourist and cultural offer of Castilla y León.

| NIGHT OF 5 JANUARY |
|
If you are in Tordesillas during the night of the 5th January, you will be surprised by the costume party held after 00.00 am. Place: all over the town despite the cold or rainy weather.
What began 25 years ago as a discotheque contest has become one of the most popular parties of Tordesillas, due to its friendliness and boundless colourfulness.

| CONCENTRACIONES MOTAUROS Y PINGüINOS |

In January here it takes place the famous "Motauros" International Winter Meeting of Motorbikes and near Valladolid the even more famous "Pingüinos" Motorcyclist Meeting which during many years was held in Tordesillas and a high number of its participants still stay in our establishment
