We can find the taurine tradition of Castilla y León in every village of this region. Tordesillas celebrates the Toro de Vega Tournament, which has been declared as festivity of Regional Tourist Interest in Castilla y León. This tournament always is celebrated on Tuesday, which will vary according to the date of the Virgen de la Guía's Day, on 8 September. The following Sunday to the 8th of September, it is celebrated the Peña's Day (Clubs Day) and the following Tuesday will take place the Toro de la Vega Tournament. This festivity consists of releasing a bull with more than 500 kg of weight which, from the Calle de San Antolín (near the Plaza Mayor), goes towards the bridge of the Duero River to cross the entire Vega. The "lanceros" (spearers) leave riding a horse or on foot. And they go cross-country after the bull in order to fight hand-to-hand with it. This is a celebration whose beauty lies in the fight maintained between the bull, the horse and the lancero, all in the middle of the Vega of Tordesillas.
