What is the Verdejo grape?

Verdejo is the most iconic grape variety of the Rueda Designation of Origin and one of the great symbols of Spanish white wine.

Grown mainly in Castile and León, particularly in the province of Valladolid, this grape stands out for its rich aromatic profile and for producing fresh, elegant and highly expressive wines.

Wines made from Verdejo typically display fruity and herbaceous aromas, with notes reminiscent of tropical fruits, citrus, fennel or fresh grass. On the palate, they are well-balanced, with good acidity and a characteristic slightly bitter finish, one of the hallmarks of this variety.
